Tuesday, October 28, 2025 — Washington, D.C.
The afternoon gathering at Golden Scissors, lovingly called “el salón de las estrellas,” brought together neighbors, friends, and longtime supporters to share food, conversation, and purpose. Hosted by Rosibel and her husband, the event was a celebration of community — and a chance to connect personally with Jackie Reyes-Yanes, candidate for the Ward 1 Council seat.
Rosibel set the tone with heartfelt words of welcome:
“Esta es su casa y será su casa por siempre.”
She introduced Jackie as “una gran persona, un gran ser humano, una gran amiga,” describing her as someone who leads with energy, heart, and action.
“Jacki, el ahorita… The time is now.”

Leading with Humanity
When Jackie spoke, she centered her message on a simple but powerful principle to lead and legislate with humanity. She shared that every decision, every policy, and every initiative should begin with compassion and the understanding that every voice matters.
While she acknowledged the historic nature of her candidacy, as a Latina woman with deep Salvadoran roots, she emphasized that her vision for leadership is inclusive and community-wide.
“Yes, I am Latina, but I have always worked for everyone. When our neighbors call, I answer — because all communities deserve to be heard.”
A Movement Built from the Ground Up
Jackie described her campaign as a grassroots movement, one that grows through connection, action, and shared purpose. From meeting residents door to door to joining neighborhood clean-ups and visibility events, her approach is rooted in presence and participation.
“If every person brings a few neighbors together, that’s how we build community,” she said. “That’s how we create real change — one block at a time.”
Inclusion, Respect, and Connection
Jackie reaffirmed her commitment to serve everyone — across cultures, generations, and languages. She addressed Spanish-speaking neighbors directly:
“Y yo voy a hablarles en español también.”
She also extended her appreciation to the senior community, especially “mis mayores de Centro Vida,” recognizing their contributions and promising to continue listening to and advocating for them.

Together Toward a Shared Future
The event closed with words that captured the collective spirit in the room:
“Si ella llega, llegamos todos.”
If Jackie wins, we all win.
More than a campaign stop, the afternoon at Golden Scissors reflected the heart of Ward 1 — people coming together to lift one another, to act with compassion, and to build a stronger, more united community.
Because as Jackie reminded everyone — the time is now.
